ABSECON SALTWATER SPORTSMEN

MINUTES

August 14, 2017

 

The meeting was brought to order by Jim Van Daley, President, with a salute to the flag and a moment of silence for our troops. The minutes of the July 24 meeting were read and approved. The treasurer’s report was not available.   Closing balances: Raffle Account: N/A General Account: N/A Charity Account: N/A.

 

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

 

TRUSTEES:                            No report.

 

GACF:                                          Coach Bag Bingo will be held on August 25 at the Somers Point Fire House.  See flyer for

SUNSHINE:                            No report of anyone sick.

 

FEDERATION:                       No report, down for summer.

 

NJ MARINE FISHERIES:        Club is concerned on ruling for next year. State   may need to pay for study.

 

HOOKED ON FISHING:          No report.

 

WEBSITE/FACEBOOK:           Posted open tournament pictures.

 

COMMUNICATIONS:              Received bank statements.

 

MEMBER APPLICATIONS:   One new member application sponsored by Jay Lavance. New member Zach Fiedler was

                                                      approved to join.

 

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:       It was reported that the fish and wildlife commissioner needs 2 months to schedule.  Hopefully

next year we can get him down for Day on the Bay. Joe and Ed participated in the Brigantine

National Night out.

 

NEW BUSINESS:                       No new business.

 

TOURNAMENTS:                     Perch and Stripped Bass tournament ongoing to 12/31. Probably will not give out coolers next

                                                      year, just cash.

 

DAY ON THE BAY:                  The solar eclipse and day on the bay will happen at the same time.  Need to look for solar

                                                      glasses to pass out. Jim needs to check and see if there are enough medals. Scoops not on

board yet for ice cream.

 

 

PICNIC:                                       Need to get flyer ready.

 

GOOD OF THE ORDER:         16 boats entered in Mako boat tournament in AC; the food and prizes were good.

 

 

Next meeting:  Monday, August 28 at 8:00 PM.
