Absecon Saltwater Sportsmen
Meeting of December 13, 2010
The meeting of the Absecon Saltwater Sportsmen was called to order called to order by President Jim VanDaley. The club performed the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence for our Military.
Secretary’s Report: The minutes of November 8, 2010 were approved as read.
Treasurer’s Report: General Account: N/A Charity Account: N/A
Received Insurance Bills, Bank Statement, IGFA is looking for a donation.
Trustee Report: None, meet in February.
G.A.B.T Report: G.A.B.T meeting on December 15, 2010.
New Business: Introduced and accepted Marianne Christian as new member
President Van Daley had further discussion with Donna Connor of “viridian electric”. It turns out Viridian wants a $299 entrée fee which the club does not want to participate.
Unfinished Business: In house fishing tournament weigh in slips due by December 31, 2010
Need to order Plaques from Shopie, Tee Shirts
Raffle tickets are in. They are $20 ea. And we can start selling anytime. The drawing will be April 10, 2011. Benefits “Kids hooked on fishing” & Field of dreams”
Charlie took the action to generate a 2011 event calendar.
Bob took the action to email Carl to turn over any club records in his possession.
Sunshine: No report of anyone sick.
Communications: Web site is up and running with any new information posted.
The Web site received an email from Connie Cistola of the Terra-Scapes Environmental asking to send letters to NOAA to ban long line gear in the Gulf of Mexico. I’ll request additional information.
Good of the Order: Nothing to report
Club Picnic: All actions complete for 2010.
Installation Diner: February 18, 2011 at the Crab Trap. Menu is being arranged.
Open Discussion: Need to increase membership. Joe & Ed will look into using Bass Barn Web site.
Open Tournament: Need to promote open tournament. Work with Field of dreams to help advertise.
RFA: State legislation wants to create a free saltwater fishing registry — and thus avoid a federal program that would cost each angler $15 a year with proceeds going into the General Fund.
Federation: Meeting on December 16, 2010. Venison dinner is scheduled for February 21, 2011.
Marine Fishery: Ed will send letter to request seat for representation.
Mid Atlantic Council: Still working how to manage summer Fluke. Most states are under quota. There is a possible longer season and/or a smaller fish limit. Stay tuned. Next meeting is in January.
Elections:Reopened nominations for a corresponding secretary was approved. Motion to accept the following were accepted:
