Absecon Saltwater Sportsmen

Meeting of February 14, 2011
The meeting of the Absecon Saltwater Sportsmen was called to order by President Jim Van Daley. The club performed the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence for our Military.

Secretary’s Report: The minutes of January 10, 2010 were approved.

Treasurer’s Report: General Account: N/A Charity Account: N/A

Trustee Report: A meeting is scheduled for February 28 at Jim’s house, 8PM.

G.A.B.T Report: AC Boat show results were good.

In House Tournament: Nothing to report.

Open Tournament: Nothing to report.

Sunshine: No report of anyone sick.

Club Picnic: Nothing to report.

Federation: Venison dinner is scheduled for February 21, 2011. Club has 10 tickets for the dinner @ $30 each, all taken. Youth shoot in March.

NJ Marine Fishery:

Free saltwater registry passed in Senate, waiting for the Governor’s decision.

Still no decision on summer flounder season and limits. Possibly 2 weeks longer on both ends of the season. Options have been submitted with smaller size limits of 17” & 17.5”. Also, slot options with 1 fish out of 6 @ either 17” or 17.5” and the other fish a minimum of 18”.

Members could send a letter to the Governor to request Ed Goldman get a seat on the council.

ASWS Web Site: First few months of club events posted on 2011 Calendar tab. Installation dinner posted in Events tab.

New Applications: No new applicants. There were a couple ideas discussed to recruit new members. 1) Guest night, 2) Face book (Bob will look into this), 3) Post signs at local establishments, 4) Put an ad in Fisherman’s magazine.

Unfinished Business:

Need to order Plaques.

Members need to pick up raffle tickets to sell. The drawing is April 10, 2011.

Ed sent raffle permit to city hall

Installation Diner: February 18, 2011 at the Crab Trap. Lou will purchase prizes. There will be a presenter from Field of Dreams.

New Business: We have been assured by Sea Tow that there will be 2 boats this year for the “Day on the Bay” with Field of Dreams.

Elections: Nothing to report.

Good of the Order: Nothing to report.

Jim provided a very entertaining narration of his recent vacation to the other side of the world.
