Absecon Saltwater Sportsmen

Meeting of April 11, 2011
The meeting of the Absecon Saltwater Sportsmen was called to order by President Jim Van Daley. The club performed the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence for our Military.

Secretary’s Report: The minutes of March 14, 2011 were read and approved.

Treasurer’s Report: General Account: N/A Charity Account: N/A

Trustee Report: A meeting was held on March 28 where the Open Tournament and membership drive were discussed. An overview of Facebook and how it can help the club was presented.

G.A.B.T Report: A meeting is scheduled for April 20th.

In House Tournament: Dates are scheduled. See Calendar on ASWS web site.

Open Tournament: Tournament and awards will be held on the same day. Awards will be at the Absecon American legion.

Sunshine: No report of anyone sick.

Club Picnic: Nothing to report.

Federation: NJOA shoot this week. NJOA protest against “pots on the reefs” at Cape May.

NJ Marine Fishery: Summer flounder season will be from May 7 to Sept 25 if the commissioner signs.

ASWS Web Site: Looking into adding a Facebook page for the club with links to the club website.

New Applications: No new applicants.

Unfinished Business:

Hook on Fishing: Nuncio Bruno bluefish tournament on May 14. Flyers will be posted at local establishments. Need to order T shirts for Nuncio Bruno tournament. Carl will determine how many to order based on what both Jim and Carl already have.

Ed prepared the flyer for the meeting at the Brigantine VFW on April 25th. Capt. Adam Nowalsky will be the guest speaker.

Ollie will send a letter to Somers Point City Council requesting installation of new fishing line tube and sign at the Somers Point ramp.

Installation Diner: Nothing to report.

Membership Drive:

Open house for new members will be held on May 9 at 8:00PM. Flyers will be posted at many establishments in the area. Information sent to Fisherman’s magazine and the BASS BARN. Talking about putting an ad on the Absecon American Legion Sign.

Joe is soliciting previous members of the club in hopes they will rejoin to the club.

Members should come to a club meeting to pick up the “new” membership cards which can be used for discounts at many local establishments.

New Business: Preparing a list of local vendors who will offer discounts to members who show their membership card.

Elections: Nothing to report.

Good of the Order: Perch tournament on April 30 at Sleepy Hollow.
