Absecon Saltwater Sportsmen

Meeting of July 25, 2011
The meeting of the Absecon Saltwater Sportsmen was called to order by President Jim Van Daley. The club performed the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence for our Military.

Secretary’s Report: The minutes of the July 11, 2011 meeting were approved as read.

Treasurer’s Report: General Account: N/A Charity Account: N/A

Trustee Report: Nothing to report.

G.A.B.T Report: A “Chinese Auction” will be held at the Bargaintown fire house on August 1.

In House Tournament: Third tournament is scheduled for July 30. Call Charlie Elwell at 609-926-3259 to sign up. The cost is $35/tournament. Results from the second tournament:

Open Tournament: The open tournament was a success. There were 41 boats entered, 1 for $25 and one free. There was positive feedback on the new venue. Organization was a little sloppy and we need to work on that for next year. There were several last minute items to buy and we need more members to show up early to help prepare.

A thank you letter will be sent to all who registered for the open tournament, including a photo from the “Day on the Bay” event. Hopefully, this would help spread the word on the clubs open tournaments.

Sunshine: Jim Van Daley was hospitalized for a few days due to a rare tick bite. He seemed to be recovering by his typical personality at the meeting.

Club Picnic: Lou is starting preparation for the picnic. John is starting to fill Lou’s fridge with perch.

Federation: Atlantic Done for Summer..

NJ Marine Fishery: Jim is still waiting for a letter to attend a meeting in Galloway to discuss the NJ free registry.

Hooked on Fishing: The Day on the Bay event with Field of Dreams will be held the first Monday in August.

ASWS Web Site: The Facebook site is up to 20 “likes.” Need to set up a link between Facebook page and the club’s website.

Communication: Just a few bank statements were received.

New Applications: One new application was received for Chris Peszka.

Unfinished Business: Carl will contact Seatow to make sure they have a boat ready for the Day on the bay event on August 1.

Installation Diner: Nothing to report.
