Absecon Saltwater Sportsmen

Meeting of August 8, 2011
The meeting of the Absecon Saltwater Sportsmen was called to order by President Jim Van Daley. The club performed the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence for our Military.

Secretary’s Report: The minutes of the July 25, 2011 meeting were approved as read.

Treasurer’s Report: General Account: N/A Charity Account: N/A

Trustee Report: Nothing to report.

G.A.B.T Report: A “Chinese Auction” will be held at the Parkertown fire house on October 1.

In House Tournament: Fourth tournament is scheduled for August 13. Call Charlie Elwell at 609-926-3259 to sign up. The cost is $35/boat. Winners from the 3rd tournament:

Flounder weight: Bob Cusack 8.74, Bob Hagel 7.66, and Charlie Elwell 6.46
Flounder heaviest: Bob Hagel 5.5
Weakfish: Dave Williams 2.16

Open Tournament: Nothing to report.

Sunshine: No report of anyone sick.

Club Picnic: Date is 9/11, noon-6PM, price $15, under 10 free. Lou has developed the flyer. John has provided more perch. John is confirming the Lake Site and Life guards. Possibly we’ll get a new spot closer to services.

Federation: Atlantic Done for Summer.

NJ Marine Fishery:Day on the Bay: There were a few new faces and all had a great time. Second boat was not needed because of a few cancelations and Sea Tow was called. MICA club donated $300 and ASWS donated $1000 to the Field of Dreams organization. An upcoming Current will have an article and picture. Thank you letters will be sent to the following: Folks who registered for the open tournament, Sponsors, ELKS, SEA TOW, and Fish Finder.

ASWS Web Site: Pictures from the Day on the Bay were uploaded to the WEB site and Facebook, check it out.
