April 14, 2014

The meeting opened with a salute to the flag and a moment of silence for our troops with President Jim Van Daley presiding.

The minutes of March 10, 2014 were read and approved. The treasurer’s report was not read because Chas Elwell was diligently working with Ed Goldman on the raffle tickets.


GACF: Nothing reported
Sunshine: Jack Petro is sick and not doing well. Lou will send him a card.
Federation: Youth shoot at Red Wing Sporting Clays: 97 youths participated followed by lunch at the port gun club.
NJMFC: Nothing reported

COMMUNICATIONS: Received the scale certification. Received request for donation for the ladies bluefish tournament. Received an application to participate at the Tuckerton decoy show to be held in September.

NEW MEMBERSHIP APPLICATIONS: Ralph Girard and Bill Will (father of Brian Will).

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Lou got the Pepsi soda donation approved for the kid’s bluefish tournament and will pick up on May 6.

Patriot lake, May 10: volunteers are needed and to report by 7 am.

NEW BUSINESS: Paul Stonerod spoke at length of a new tournament our club will sponsor. It is designed for members and nonmembers who are endorsed by an existing member where they can fish off the surf or the land for different species of fish. There are 2 separate contests to it. All the details are in the brochure that Paul created and the board approved. President Van Daley gave thanks to Paul for his work on this program.

Volunteers were needed for the annual cleanup at the Forsythe Wildlife Refuge on April 26.

The club received a donation from John Navritil of $125 for the hooked on fishing program. Thanks were given to John for his donation.

Joe Riccardo has confirmed the speaker for our April 28 meeting at the Brigantine VFW.

Tax day raffle: 957 tickets were sold out of 1000. Gross $4785.00 winners were: Mels Furniture $1196.25; Bob Hagel $478.50; Sovereign Ave Teachers $239.25; Matt Rubsaun and Lorie Carlson $239.25.

Ed Goldman discussed dredging Absecon Bay channel. He had spoken to Absecon mayor and he said the Absecon channel is on hold with other communities getting priority.

The club approved purchasing a raffle cylinder jointly with the Atlantic County Federation to be used for our annual raffles.

The first in house tournament is May 31.
