ABSECON SALTWATER SPORTSMEN
MINUTES
April 24, 2017

The meeting was brought to order by Jim Van Daley, President, with a salute to the flag and a moment of silence for our troops. The minutes were read and had one correction: the GABT tournament will be on June 3, not June 6. The treasurers’ report was read and approved.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

TRUSTEES: No report.

GACF: So far, 5 boats are signed up the tournament. And this year stripers are added in addition to bluefish. The captain’s meeting and the awards banquet will be held at the Brigantine American legion. It was suggested that there be a link between GACF and our fishing club as far as websites. We will contact Bob Cusack about that.

SUNSHINE: No report.

FEDERATION: No report.

NJ MARINE FISHERIES: There will be an emergency meeting of the NJ marine fisheries after the Thursday regional fisheries council regarding the flounder situation in NJ. The state has requested to go out of compliance and revert back to the 2016 flounder regulations.

HOOKED ON FISHING: The club needs volunteers for the patriot lake fishing tournament for kids. To be held Saturday, May 13. May 20 is the kid’s bluefish tournament at chestnut neck boat yard. We need volunteers for that call or text Lou Schott at 742-2382. The tee shirts have been ordered

WEBSITE/FACEBOOK: No report.

COMMUNICATIONS: We received a sponsor request from LIBT to be held in June. Our club budgets a donation to them

MEMBER APPLICATIONS: No new applications.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: No report

NEW BUSINESS: Jim Van Daley thought it would be a good idea to get signs made up for the kid’s bluefish tournament to be placed the same as we will do for our open tournament. Also, Jim Van Daley had the open tournament signs made a cost of $10 each. Chas Elwell said there are still some members who have not paid their dues and he will be sending out another notice.

TOURNAMENTS: Jay Lavance was present so Jim Van Daley presented him his plaque for the largest striper registered at the club for the year 2016. The fish weighed 36.25 LB.

GOOD OF THE ORDER: the sneaky hollow perch tournament was held in April. There was a good turnout, good prizes and good food.

Next meeting: Monday, May 22nd at 8:00 PM.

Respectfully submitted,
Lou Schott recorded for Bob Cusack, Secretary
