Meeting Notes – October 12, 2020
Absecon Saltwater Sportsmen’s Club
The meeting was called to order in the in the upstairs of the American Legion at 7:37 pm. Attendees were required to wear masks and sit at least 6 feet apart. Eight members were in attendance: Lou Schott, Dave Burke, Joe Ricciardi, John Reese, Rich Oeser, Bill Will, Jim Van Daley and Dave Roesch. A salute to the flag was made.
September 14 Minutes: Approved as mailed.
Treasurer’s Report: Charles Elwell was not present and there was no report.
Tournaments: No additional club tournaments are scheduled; however, the striper and perch derbies will continue until the end of the year. A suggestion was again made to post the entries to date. (We will ask Charlie Elwell to provide info at next meeting.)
40th Anniversary T – Shirts: Lou Schott has 36 shirts. Shirts will continue to be sold ($10).
Membership: No new applications.
Communications: None.
Sunshine: No members reported sick. The Club noted the passing of Frank Elbertson. Frank had been a member for many years. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and passed along his passion for the outdoors to his children and grandchildren. His son Hunter is a current member.
Nominations: A motion was made to nominate the current officers. Nominations will remain open for the next meeting.
Old/New Business: Joe Ricciardi is coordinating auctioning/sale of donated fishing equipment. Income received will be deposited in the charity account.
Good of the Order: Dave Roesch reported good fishing for blowfish in Tuckerton Bay. A recent catch was on Facebook. Perch fishing is also good. The Forsythe NWR has a kayak launching site on Lily Lake. Fall trout stocking has begun. Trout were stocked in Hammonton Lake. Information is available on the NJ DFG&W website.
