Meeting of May 14, 2012

The meeting of the Absecon Saltwater Sportsmen was called to order by President Jim Van Daley. The club performed the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence for our Military.

Secretary’s Report:The minutes of the April 9, 2012 meeting were approved as read.

Treasurer’s Report: General Account: N/A Charity Account: N/A

Trustee Report: Nothing to report.

G.A.B.T Report: The tournament will be on June 2. Flyers have been posted around the area. There will be a captains meeting on May 31st. There are about 20 boats already entered for Bluefish.

In House Tournament: The first in-house tournament results are posted below. The next tournament will be held on June 9. Discussed ties situation and settled on a split.

Fluke

1st Place – Charlie Elwell 10.76 lbs.
2nd Place – Jeff Reese 10.06 lbs.
3rd Place – Bob Cusack 9.42 lbs.
Heaviest – Charlie Elwell 4.46 lbs.

Bluefish

1st Place – Brian Will 4.75 lbs.
2nd Place – John Reese 1.92 lbs.
3rd Place – Bob Hagel 1.33 lbs.
Heaviest – John Reese 1.92 lbs.

Weakfish

No Entries

Open Tournament:The open tournament will be held the third Saturday of July (7/21). Cost is $65/boat. After the tournament a picnic will be out back of the hall. The date on the Fisherman magazine was corrected. We need to talk it up and get more boats entered.

Sunshine:Jack Snyder is recovering.

Club Picnic: Will be held the first Sunday after Labor Day (September 9, 2012). Lou has some Perch but more is needed.

Federation: Nothing to report.

NJ Marine Fisheries:Ed will hear about a seat on the Mid-Atlantic Marine Fisheries Council. Black Drum and eel limits are being discussed by the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission.

Field of Dreams:Nothing to report.

Hooked on Fishing:There were about 150 kids fishing at Patriot Lake on May 12th. Lots of Sunny fish and some fairly large bass were caught. The kids had a great time. There were prizes for all the kids. The Beacon church provided hot dogs and soda.

Web Site & Facebook:The site was down for a couple days due to domain name not being paid up to date with GODADDY. The account was paid and the site is back up.

Communication:Nothing to report.

New Applications:None. A few hats are available for new members.

Unfinished Business:The liquor from the state is being processed.
Installation Dinner:Nothing to report..

New Business: Nothing to report.

Elections:Nothing to report.

Good of the Order:Nothing to report.

Nuncio Bruno:The 2012 kids fishing tournament will be held on May 19th. Need to print up more flyers and pass them around. Lou will pick up the Pepsi. Ed will bring a camera. The Federation has donated money to be used a cash prizes to the kids. A NJ Fish & Game biologist will attend the event. Jim has the T-Shirts. Volunteers need to be at Chestnut Neck boat yard by 11 to help set up. Pepsi and Sea Tow Banners need to be hung, prize bags need to be stuffed.

NOTE: There will be no meeting on Monday, May 28 due to the Memorial Day holiday.
