Meeting of September 24, 2012

The meeting of the Absecon Saltwater Sportsmen was called to order by President Jim Van Daley. The club performed the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence for our Military.

Secretary’s Report: The minutes of the September 10, 2012 meeting were read and approved.

Treasurer’s Report: General Account: N/A Charity Account: N/A

Trustee Report: Nothing to report.

G.A.B.T Report: Nothing to report.

In House Tournament: Nothing to report.

Open Tournament: We are waiting for the group picture from the “Day on the Bay” event before sending thank you letters to Sponsors and Captains.

Sunshine: The owner of Pine Hawk is sick, Jim plans to stop by.

Club Picnic: Nothing to report.

Federation: Meeting held on 9/20.

NJ Marine Fisheries: The Fluke season ends this Friday. Sea Bass season opened today for a couple of weeks, and may not open in November. Only location to catch Shad is the Delaware Bay and river.

Field of Dreams: Nothing to report.

Hooked on Fishing: Nothing to report.

Web Site & Facebook: Uploaded pictures from the picnic.

Communication: Nothing to report.

New Applications: No new applicants.

Unfinished Business: Jim brought in the Press article from the Day on the Bay with the Field of Dreams kids. It was in the AC, Brigantine, and Pleasantville version so that is why a lot of us missed it. It was a nice article with several pictures.
Installation Dinner: Nothing to report.

New Business: Nothing to report.

Elections: Elections are coming up in October; need to think about nominating officers.

The meeting is switching to once a month and starting at 7:30PM. It will be held on Monday, October 8.

The meeting of the Absecon Saltwater Sportsmen was called to order by President Jim Van Daley. The club performed the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence for our Military.

Secretary’s Report: The minutes of the August 27, 2012 meeting were read and approved.

Treasurer’s Report: General Account: N/A Charity Account: N/A

Trustee Report: Nothing to report.

G.A.B.T Report: There will be a meeting on 9/19. Collecting for the Chinese Auction to be held October 6 (the 1st Saturday in October). If anyone has anything to donate for the auction please contact Ed Goldman.

In House Tournament: Only tournament left for the year are the ongoing Perch and Striper.

Open Tournament: We are waiting for the group picture from the “Day on the Bay” event before sending thank you letters to Sponsors and Captains.

Sunshine: No report of anyone sick.

Club Picnic: Lou provided the results of the picnic. The weather and food were perfect and everyone had a great time. Some adjustments to food quantities will be done next year. We also need a better way to collect money, maybe a table out front. Approximately 100 people attended. Lou asked about moving the picnic to Saturday but many folks are busy so the day will not change. The winners of the dessert contest:

Federation: Nothing to report.

NJ Marine Fisheries: The Feds (MAFMC) and the States (ASFMC) based on current recreational landings and stock surveys, including the young of year survey, have cut the total allowable catch for summer flounder for 2013. The MAFMC & the ASFMC will meet in December and decide the recreational allowable landings. In March, the NJ Marine Fisheries Council will decide the bag limit, sizes limit and season needed to meet the quota.

G.A.B.T Report: Collecting for the Chinese Auction to be held October 6 (the 1st Saturday in October). If anyone has anything to donate for the auction please contact Ed Goldman.

Club Picnic: Lou provided an update for event. Plan is to clean crabs on Saturday morning before the day of the picnic. Bob will mail flyers with this month’s minutes.

Federation: Nothing to report.

NJ Marine Fisheries: Next meeting is 1st Thursday in September.

Field of Dreams: Ed will provide the pictures from the event and Bob will post them on Web site and Facebook page.

Hooked on Fishing: Nothing to report.

Communication: Received a $500 grant (check) from State Farm Insurance that Lou had applied for to be used on a nonprofit charity. The check will be deposited into the clubs charity account.

Unfinished Business: Charlie will provide an updated members list.

Installation Dinner: Lou Schott reported that he has contacted the Crab Trap and has set the date for Friday, February 8, 2013.

New Business: Talked about changing the yearly raffle down to $5 or $10. Also want to start working on the tickets.

The meeting of the Absecon Saltwater Sportsmen was called to order by President Jim Van Daley. The club performed the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence for our Military.

Secretary’s Report: The minutes of the July 23, 2012 meeting were read and approved with one correction on unfinished business.

Treasurer’s Report: General Account: N/A Charity Account: N/A

Trustee Report: Nothing to report.

G.A.B.T Report: The next meeting will be held on 8/15.

In House Tournament: The 4th in-house tournament is scheduled for August 18.

Open Tournament: There were 27 boats entered into the open tournament with 26 paid. We are waiting for the group picture from the “Day on the Bay” event before sending thank you letters to Sponsors and Captains. Bob will update the database with all the boats from this year’s event.

Sunshine: Our thoughts are with Ollie and family for their loss.

Club Picnic: Lou provided an update for the menu and cost for the event.

Federation: Nothing to report.

NJ Marine Fisheries: Nothing to report.

Field of Dreams: The Day on the Bay event was held on 8/13, many fish were caught and all enjoyed the boat trip and picnic. Need to send a thank you letter to the brigantine Elks club for their support of this event.

Web Site & Facebook: Up and running, one new like from ACUA.

Communication: Received a thank you card for the contribution to benefit the AtlantiCare R.N.S. Mobile Mammography Assistance fund from the Ladies Invitational Bluefish Tournament Committee.

New Business:

The members discussed participation in the “National Night Out” event held by Galloway Township. The club should get a booth for this event next year.

Lou brought up the idea of fishing trip on the Fish Finder sometime in September out to the AC Reef. Cost would be $50/person. Also a possible trip after flounder season if the Fish Finder has a quota with the states “Set Aside” program”

Jim brought up the idea of a Sunday breakfast with club members just to get together and have some fun.
