July 27, 2015 Minutes

July 27, 2015

The meeting opened with a salute to the flag and a moment of silence for our troops, with President Jim Van Daley presiding. The minutes of July 13 were read and approved. The treasurer’s report was read and approved.

TRUSTEES: No report.

GACF: Next meeting is 3rd week in August. The will be a beef and beer at the Black Cat on August 30.

SUNSHINE: Ed Egnor passed away. He was a dedicated member who will surely be missed. Service is tomorrow.

FEDERATION: Closed for the summer.

NJ MARINE FISHERIES: There is talk of a 46% reduction flounder catch for 2016. A rule change is needed so the big females are sent back.

WEBSITE/FACEBOOK: The open tournament was posted in time on Facebook and the website.

TOURNAMENTS: The 4th in-house tournament will be on August 15.

COMMUNICATIONS: Nothing reported.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Bob found the dessert winners for years 2010 – 2014. Both the dessert and fisherman of the year plaques need to be updated.

NEW BUSINESS: Lou brought up the subject of Ethanol Gas and the need to get it removed for marine gas. There is talk of increasing the amount of Ethanol to 15%, this will make the marine engines run hotter and is bad on gas lines and parts in the fuel system on older boats. Lou’s brother has been talking to the NJ politicians. The club should do something to let politicians know the issues with Ethonol.

OPEN TOURNAMNT: Tournament and BBQ were good, and had good weather. Jim would like to see more boats sign up. Enough money was raised to support the Day on the Bay event with the FOD kids.

PICNIC: Lou gave an update, location and date not set at this time. The Cologne fire house has 3 church groups on the current planned date. EHC Lake is not a good choice. Another alternative is the Pomona Gun Club. Lou is going to check them out.

FIELD OF DREAMS: The “Day on the Bay” event is set for August 17 and the Fish Finder is good with the date. Need to check with the Elks club and make sure the will host the BBQ once again.

Next meeting: Monday, August 10 at 8:00 PM.

Respectfully submitted,
Bob Cusack Secretary
